I just want to shake them and yell, “Some of us are okay with not coming back.” (via bzedan) I have made similar points, when talking about the various Space Shuttle accidents. Yes, NASA got complacent. But we’re shooting humans into fucking space. It’s dangerous. That’s why the first astronauts were all bad-asses, had stared death in the face many times, and were ready to die on the road to the stars. As a culture, we’ve gotten uncomfortable with that idea. |
